Digicel Paradise: The Caribbean's Most Popular Mobile Network Achieves Higher Bandwidth
Digicel is THE major mobile network provider in Jamaica and other Caribbean islands. In fact, the people are known to say “Hold on, I have to answer my Digicel”. With over
100 locations across Jamaica alone, and several hundred in over 27 countries throughout the Caribbean, Central and South America, and the South Pacific, it is a popular destination for everything for business and personal communication needs. B&N produces and distributes their shop fixtures to all of these locations.
Pavlik Design, the architects of record on the project, challenged us to create a collection of fixtures that was playful, colorful, easily installed, flesible, and easily adaptable.
The solution was to base the entire store on our Sorbetti System – Spanning for the perimeters of the space, freestanding for display, and Café tables for internet stations – , the Scissy System for promotions and display, and special Cable solutions for more internet stations.
Sorbetti Uprights with aluminum Sliders support signage and custom trays. The lights that span accross the top keep the product illuminated.
The freestanding internet locations use the Sorbetti Café tables to hold computers, and allow customers to sit to review their own accounts, log onto the web, or review Digicel program details. Power and data cables are easily run through the Sorbetti uprights, and signpanels highlight promotions. The Sorbetti Uprights are clad with Lime acrylic Sliders, which tie in to the rest of the materials in the store.
The front windows of the store are completely open to the space, allowing the graphics and promotions to come alive. It also keeps focus on the bright crimson walls that surround the interior, as well as the red behind the service desk.
Sorbetti uprights with Lime Sliders support three round display shelves. These shelves have clear acrylic half domes that protect the latest product displays from dirt, dust, and shrinkage. More display shelves can be added, or a single shelf can be displayed with the simple lifting off of the Sorbetti components.

A long all the walls is the workhorse of the merchandising: the Sorbetti Spanning System. Using the same Sorbetti Uprights as in the rest of the store, the Uprights are tied back to the wall for support. Custom cases hold the extensive collection of devices and accessories. These cases are made from sheet aluminum, with Sorbetti Lime acrylic displays, and locking clear acrylic lids. Cleaning and shrinkage is kept to a minimum. Integrated brochure holders promote the different programs. And, for visual strength and impact, special graphic channels hold large promotional messages.
Digicel is the true digital diva in this part of the world. Incorporating excellent customer service and a wide variety of plans, it is the one destination for those needed mobile communications. The store and fixture design supports that, providing an impactful and clear communication, just as the brand does.
The highly-customizable and modular Scissy Shelf system sits in the front of the space. Round shelves in Lime acrylic are topped with locking clear acrylic boxes to secure and keep the product clean. A Scissy banner supports the marketing message.
