Jamie Durie & B+N: Come Meet The Designer

Who: Designer Jamie Durie with B+N Industries

When: Wednesday, March 29th, 11:00 AM

Where: GlobalShop, B+N Booth 4343, Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas

B+N Industries is honored to introduce a special collaboration
with international award-winning designer and author, Jamie Durie.

Durie and his team have created a unique design language called “transterior”: creating seamless transitions between the indoors & out. This philosophy of taking the outdoors inside, and the indoors outside, forges a greater connection to nature in a sophisticated and carefully curated environment inspired by nature and natural elements and textures.

Our acclaimed Infused Veneer and Iconic Panel Collections are a perfect vehicle
to translate Jamie’s vision of imbuing interior spaces with the natural world.
The result: a collection that will dramatically and elegantly transform spaces –
all with a symbiotic relationship of imagery and patterns driven by design
and created by nature.

Come on by and meet Jamie, hear him speak,
and ask questions about his inimitable outlook on design.

B+N Industries Makes ICFF Inaugural Debut

B+N Industries x Shantell Martin, ICFF NYC

#ShantellMartinforBN

Burlingame, Calif. (April 21, 2015) – B+N Industries is pleased to announce their inaugural debut at The International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in Booth 1762, Friday, May 16 – Tuesday, May 19. In what is set to be an interactive and product driven celebration of artistic talent, B+N Industries will feature of the moment artist Shantell Martin illustrating live on their most versatile merchandising and design solution, System 1224. On the other side, the colorful and whimsical collaboration of Furniture, Infused Veneer, (and even Surfboards) with the late artist Rex Ray will be spotlighted. Also making its premiere is Fortina: a remarkable architectural system that will fool your senses, replicating wood slats and Louvers with aluminum and a hyper-realistic non-pvc surface.

As leaders in their industry, B+N is committed to developing innovative products while striving to keep creativity at the forefront, and are always looking for ways to inspire. A natural extension of their mission involves relevance and making intentional choices to surround their brand with people and ideas that reflect what is of the moment, interesting, and unique.

To that end, B+N Industries has chosen talent that embodies this relevance and are excited to feature both established and new wave artistry paired with their products at ICFF. Using their System 1224 and Fortina as her blank canvas, Shantell will apply her “trademark black ink” to every inch of white surface over the course of the show. Her meditation of lines; language of creatures and messages will invite our viewers to share a role in her creative process. The alternate side of their installation will be a celebration of Rex Ray for B+N, an exclusive collection of Furniture, Surfboards, and Infused Veneer created using cutting edge industrial applications.

Originally from London with a VJ stint in Tokyo, artist Shantell Martin is currently living out her dream in New York where she recently became a visiting scholar at MIT Media Lab. In between “Drawing On Everything”, you can find her collaborating with high-profile designers like Kelly Wearstler, creating displays for luxury retail brands like Joyce (Hong Kong), working on exclusive commissions for private clients, teaching at ITP NYU, or volunteering with some of her favorite Arts organizations. Shantell has been featured in Vogue, Elle, T Magazine, Vie, Vibe, The New York Times, The New Yorker, 1st Dibs, California Home & Design, MOMA, The Brooklyn Museum, and The Jimmy Kimmel Show to name a few.

Artist Rex Ray, real name Michael Patterson, was born in Germany but eventually came to the states and settled in San Francisco to attend the Art Institute. In fact, San Franciscans are honored to consider him one of their own for both his contributions to Art and Activism. Ray’s iconic work ranges from fine art to collages made entirely by hand, paintings on both resin and canvas, photography, print works, as well as graphic design. Once familiar it is impossible not to recognize these abstract, color-filled, playful patterns with mid-century modern influences and psychedelic whimsy as his. Our collaboration is the perfect fusion of his artistry with our innovative design techniques.

To see the exclusive Rex Ray collection, or to meet and experience the evolution of Shantell Martin for B+N Industries in person, visit Booth 1762 at ICFF, May 16 – 17, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., May 18, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and May 19, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. it is open to both trade and general public.

And The Winner Is….

B+N FIAT Giveaway 1
Here at B+N Industries, we can’t think of a better way to start the new year than by sharing our own inspiring, feel good story from the holiday break. As many of you know, we created a FIAT themed showroom using our Fortina line and System 1224 in our New York offices for The Retail Design Collective back in December. You might also know that visitors to our showroom were entered into our awesome #FreeFIAT Giveaway. A week after the show, we gathered in our CEO’s office to watch him pull one lucky name from the numerous entries we received. After verification consistent with giveaway rules, our Team was excited to phone the winner and share the good news.

Without further delay, the WINNER of the B+N Industries FIAT Giveaway is Tim DiCesare!

IMG_20141223_034839[11]

When we phoned Tim, he was absolutely ecstatic. As it turns out, Tim has been living in Kansas City for the last six and half years without a car, and everyday he takes the bus to and from work. Tim currently works as a Visual Manager and Mass Merchandiser for Hallmark Cards. (And yes, we couldn’t resist mentioning that he was about to have his very own Hallmark Moment!)

B+N Industries has given me an awesome Christmas gift!! Thank you!!!!

On weekends, Tim would rent a car to get to the lake to relax which naturally meant his “Hertz miles are off the charts!” A few months back, he realized it was time to invest in a car but was having difficulty making a choice amongst all the options on the market. Not only did our #FreeFIAT Giveaway make the decision process stress free, through our agreement with FIAT Tim was able to visit his local Studio in Olathe, Kansas, and work with them directly to select and order his perfect car.

The FIAT Studio member, Terry Hines, made the process a breeze. He ordered in a car with the features I wanted, and took great care of me as I asked ignorant questions about registration and all that goes with a car. Terry even offered to pick me up to get me to the dealership without any hassle.

We couldn’t imagine a better way to end and begin the year at B+N. Check out the video to hear Tim’s happy story straight from him!

We had a great time working with FIAT in our latest creative venture. If you have yet to see the innovative environment we created in our New York Showroom for The Retail Design Collective using our newest product line Fortina and System 1224 with FIAT as the backdrop, you can check it out here.

Welcome to the World of B+N

Who are we?

When Deepak Chopra asks interviewees this question at the end of his fascinating One World segments, it’s always met with a pause. It’s a loaded question, and one we are committed to pausing for and evaluating each year as we continue to grow and evolve. When asked today, we would say that B&N Industries is an innovative designer and manufacturer of products and services for the retail, architectural, and hospitality industries in both the domestic and international markets. At our core, we are design driven and we apply that creative thought process to both product development and internal operations.

Even though we have been in business for 30 years, we like to think of ourselves as a startup. The excitement, innovation, and passion from all of our team members allows us to stay current and relevant. We are never satisfied. We travel the world studying design, being inspired by cultures, our surroundings, and actively apply our experiences to the development of new ideas.

When it comes to retail and hospitality, our central motto is to treat every store like a flagship, and every hotel as if it were five star. That means, when a client comes to us they can expect to receive a level of service and attention to detail given to those standout properties of a brand.

Over the last five years, we have continued to expand the breadth of products and services that we offer. Our ultimate goal is to have enough proprietary products in our offerings to give clients an off the shelf solution. We currently have over 15 fully developed systems in our offerings. Within those systems there are plenty of built in options for customization to create a unique look for whatever brand is looking to utilize them. That said, we recognize that competitive pricing on both stock items and custom work drive business, and have made a conscious effort to reduce costs without diminishing quality.

We also realize that collaborations are vital to our continued growth. If you look at most of the successful retailers and brands, part of their success is via collaborations. We see this as a creative way to keep our brand fresh in the consumer’s mind, which is precisely why we teamed up with Rex Ray in 2013 to create a line of products and have partnered with the Japanese company Toppan in the third quarter of 2014 to bring our newest product line Fortina to our North American clients.

In our most recent pause, we noticed an area that needed our attention and felt the timing was right for us to fully enter the world of Social Media. It is incredible how the integration of these platforms has changed the way in which we communicate and interact in the personal, professional, and global spheres. Without further ado, we welcome you to The World of B+N Industries, and hope you will join us as we share more of #WhoWeAre on Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram, and right here on our blog.
