Remembering Rex Ray

Rex Ray’s artwork ranges from collage on paper, canvas and resin boards to digital work. Ray’s work is made entirely by hand. The collages are made with hand-painted and printed papers hand cut with scissors. His work combines a mid-century modern aesthetic with psychedelic color palette and shapes. Ray was known for popularizing the use of high-gloss resin panels – encasing his colorful, graphic collage designs in a gorgeous glossy layer of resin.

Ray’s collages, paintings and design work have been exhibited at galleries and museums, including The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Jose Museum of Modern Art, The Crocker Museum in Sacramento, and Museum of Contemporary Art, Denver. Turner Carroll Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico; Conduit Gallery in Dallas, Texas; and NYC.

Rex Ray’s exhibition are currently at the SFMOMA and San Francisco’s Gallery 16

Abstract and handcrafted, with a retrofuturistic feel, Rex Ray’s work is always identifiable, whether seen on museum or gallery walls, in hip restaurants and boutique hotels — or on book, CD covers or rock posters. He worked on a wide range of custom projects for Apple, Dreamworks, Swatch and David Bowie among others.

We at B+N Industries are proud to have worked with him; his inimitable talent forged into our lines of Infused Veneer™ Panels and carved relief Iconic Panels™. Rex Ray’s feel for wood grain, pattern, and shape melds perfectly with the warmth and graphic quality of these exclusive product lines. Whether used in retail, hospitality, or contract applications, this collection will be sure to bring an impactful and individualistic aesthetic to any interior.

Fortina by B+N at Globalshop 2016

Thank you to all who came out to explore the architectural possibilities of Fortina at Globalshop 2016!

Get to know this remarkable architectural system that will fool your senses: replicating wood slats and Louvers with aluminum and a hyper-realistic non-pvc surface…

The combination of these materials makes the collection perfect for “green” building. The large collection of finishes has a touch and feel that is indistinguishable from real wood. It dramatically enhances environments with the benefits of lighter weight, less cost, less waste, easier installation, as well as more consistent color and finish than real wood. Because of the materials and highly-controlled manufacturing process, Fortina For B+N can be used in both interior and exterior situations such as walls, ceilings, handrails, cladding, garage doors and countless other applications. With a variety of installation hardware, Fortina facilitates installation and shortens project construction times while bringing the warm look and feel of wood.
